Casey is the artist and owner of Sunshine Ln. Pottery, where she makes functional pottery inspired by the textures and unpredictability of the natural world.
In this class, she'll guide you through throwing your own matcha set on the wheel. Create a bowl, a small cup and a chaser holder, made by your own hands, ready to be part of your morning routine.
Class is hosted on September 24th at 6pm.
*Wheel-throwing experience recommended*
A word from Casey-
My work is an exploration of the space where functional pottery meets the tactile unpredictability of nature. While I design my pieces to be used daily, I am most interested in how a form feels in the hand. I find myself constantly drawn to organic textures, the kind that make you stop and wonder if the surface feels the way it looks. For me, a piece is successful when it moves someone to reach out and touch it.
There is a quiet, grounding power in working with clay. It’s a process of taking raw earth and turning it into something of value and meaning. I enjoy the chemistry of the studio, especially the way glazes react in the kiln to create surfaces that feel weathered or grown rather than manufactured.
Ultimately, I want to create objects that bring a sense of the outdoors into the rituals of the home. I make pottery for the moments when we slow down, a morning coffee or a shared meal, aiming to make those experiences feel a little more connected to the earth.”
